For many LGBTQ+ individuals, the body hasn’t always felt like a safe place to live in. It’s carried the weight of rejection, silence, masking, survival. And while Pride Month shines with visibility, joy, and celebration—it also carries the quiet ache of what it took to get here.
As a somatic healer, I work with clients from across the LGBTQ+ spectrum who are reclaiming their relationship with their bodies and nervous systems. And this month, I want to honor them—and you.
Your Body Is Not the Problem.
It never was.
Many of my clients come to me after years of disconnection. They’ve learned to leave their bodies in order to stay safe—whether from gender dysphoria, cultural shame, bullying, or trauma rooted in the experience of being “othered.”
Somatic healing isn’t about fixing you. It’s about reintroducing you to yourself—with compassion and consent. It’s about building the felt sense of safety, one breath, one boundary, one moment at a time.
Pride Lives in the Body
•Pride isn’t just flags and parades…
•Pride is rest.
•Pride is breath.
•Pride is reclaiming softness after years of tension.
•Pride is learning to say: “I am safe here. I belong here. In this body.”
When you’ve lived life in hypervigilance—bracing for harm, code-switching to stay palatable—your nervous system needs space to unwind. That’s the work we do together.
Not to push through.
But to gently invite your system back into alignment, presence, and choice.
This Work is Sacred
To be queer, trans, nonbinary—and embodied—is a radical act.
To take up space in your own skin is a homecoming.
And to feel joy? That’s not indulgent. It’s your birthright.
This Pride Month, I’m celebrating the clients who are doing the brave work of coming home to themselves.
Whether you’re just beginning your healing journey or deep in the process, please know this:
You are not too much.
You are not broken
You are not alone.
My Practice Is Here For You
I offer inclusive, trauma-informed somatic support for LGBTQ+ clients looking to reconnect with their bodies and reclaim their peace.
If you’re ready to explore this path—or if you’re simply curious—know that you’re welcome here.
This work was always meant for you.
With love and deep respect,
Candis Zimmerman
