I’m going through menopause. How can somatic work actually help?

Menopause is not only hormonal. It is a full nervous system event. Sleep changes, mood waves, anxiety that seems to arrive from nowhere—these are signs of a body recalibrating, and a nervous system working harder than it ever has. Somatic practice gives that system what it needs most: regulation. Through breath, movement, and body-based practice, you build the capacity to settle yourself from the inside. This work does not replace medical care for menopause, and Candis will always encourage you to work with your healthcare provider. What it offers is the piece medicine alone cannot reach: a living, daily relationship with your changing body.

I’m postmenopausal. Is this still for me?

Deeply so. The passage does not end when the symptoms ease. Many women arrive at the other side of menopause asking who they are now in their body, their relationships, their purpose. Postmenopause is a season of tremendous clarity and power, and somatic work helps you inhabit it fully. This is not about recovering who you were. It is about arriving, finally and completely, in who you are.

My body feels like a stranger to me. Is that normal?

It is one of the most common things women in this passage say, and one of the least spoken aloud. A body that changes shape, temperature, and rhythm can feel like it belongs to someone else. Somatic work is, at its heart, a practice of reacquaintance. Week by week, you learn to listen to this body rather than fight her, and what felt foreign begins to feel like home again.

What is somatic coaching, and how is it different from therapy?

Somatic coaching works with the body as the primary site of healing. Where therapy focuses on understanding and processing through conversation, somatic coaching works directly with what the nervous system is holding: the tension, the bracing, the patterns that live below the level of thought. For women in menopause and beyond, this matters deeply: so much of what this season stirs cannot be talked through, because it lives in the body. Candis is not a licensed therapist and does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. What she offers is a body-first, practitioner-led group experience that complements therapy and often reaches what talk alone does not.

What is Primal Somatics?

Primal Somatics is the methodology at the heart of Candis’s work, a NARM-inspired (NeuroAffective Relational Model) approach to nervous system healing through body-based practice. It draws on five core practices: Primal Gestures, Primal Processing, Somatic Techniques, Somatic Experiencing, and Natural Movement. Together, they help release what the body has been storing and build lasting capacity for regulation, presence, and ease—a capacity that becomes essential in a season when the nervous system is already navigating profound hormonal change.

What is The InnerCalm Method and how does it work?

The InnerCalm Method is a 6-week live virtual group experience and the only way to work with Candis. Each week has two touchpoints: a 45-minute class with 15 minutes of live Q&A on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM, and a 30-minute refresher and check-in on Thursdays at 1:00 PM. Sessions are intentionally split because ninety minutes of somatic input at once is too much for most nervous systems, and a body moving through menopause deserves pacing that honors its capacity. Between sessions, the Skool community is open for group posts, questions, and connection with women walking the same passage. The program also includes two private 20-minute sessions with Candis for personalized support.

Who is The InnerCalm Method for?

It is created for women over 50 moving through menopause, postmenopause, and the transitions of midlife, including those navigating chronic illness, autoimmune conditions, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, body image struggles, and the quiet upheaval of becoming someone new. If you have walked into wellness rooms that were not built for you, this one was. You will be in the company of women who know this passage from the inside.

Will I be the oldest person in the room?

No, and you may find that question dissolves the moment you arrive. This program is built for women over 50. The woman beside you is navigating the same nights, the same waves, the same becoming. That shared ground is not incidental to the work. It is part of the medicine.

Do I need prior experience with somatic work?

Not at all. The program is built for mixed experience levels; new participants learn alongside those revisiting the material, and everyone benefits from that range. The only thing you need is a willingness to show up. Everything else is guided, paced to your nervous system, and built from the ground up.

Do I need a diagnosis or a doctor’s referral to join?

No. The InnerCalm Method is a coaching and psychoeducational experience, not a medical treatment, so no referral or diagnosis is needed. If you are managing menopause with the support of a doctor, this work sits comfortably alongside that care and many women find the combination is where the real shift happens.

Is this a good fit if I am already in therapy?

Yes, and the combination often accelerates both. Your therapist works with your history, your patterns, your insight. The InnerCalm Method works with where those patterns live in your body. Many participants find that what they have been processing verbally begins to shift more deeply once the body is part of the work too.

What does it cost, and is a payment plan available?

The full investment for The InnerCalm Method is $3,000. A payment plan is available at three monthly payments of $1,000, with no difference in access or experience. Payment one is due at registration to hold your place. If you have questions about whether this is the right fit before committing, the Discovery Call is the place to start: book a call.

Can I continue after the 6 weeks?

Yes. The program is designed as an ongoing container. New participants join existing cohorts, and returning participants benefit from revisiting the curriculum at a deeper level. Each pass through the material lands differently as your nervous system matures, much like this season of life itself. Week 6 is both a culmination and a bridge: participants leave with a personal somatic practice commitment and a clear sense of what continuing looks like.

What if I have to miss a session?

Life happens, and a full life is no barrier to this work. If you miss a Tuesday class, a recording of the practice components will be shared (group discussion portions excluded for confidentiality), and you will receive that week’s worksheet as normal. Thursday refreshers are not recorded, but the Skool community keeps the thread alive between sessions.

What technology do I need?

Zoom on any device with a camera and internet connection. You can attend from home, your car, or anywhere you have privacy. Video is encouraged so the group can see and co-regulate with each other, but it is never required. The Skool community is accessible via web browser or mobile app.
